MANILA (UPDATE) – At least four robbers shot at mall security guards during a robbery attempt at the Farmer's Plaza in Cubao, Quezon City on Tuesday.
The suspects robbed First Allied Emporium Jewelry, located at the mall's ground floor, at around 9:40 a.m.
A security guard said two armed robbers barged into the shop and smashed jewelry glass cases, while two motorcycle-riding cohorts waited for them to get out with the loot.
He said the robbers, who wore bull caps, managed to take off with pieces of jewelry and fled towards Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).
"Parang mayroon, kasi may laman sila sa bag," he said.
Supt. Ramon Pranada, commander of Quezon City Police District Station 7, confirmed that the robbers destroyed one display case in the shop and took off with pieces of jewelry amounting to P2 million.
The suspects also fired shots while escaping to cause panic among civilians.
One of the suspects was allegedly wounded in the exchange of gunfire with the police.
Police are now at the crime scene to conduct an investigation. The jewelry shop was also closed temporarily.
They are also looking for the hospital where the wounded suspect is being treated.
Pranada said the shop's closed-circuit television camera was still turned off when the incident occured. – report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
