MANILA - A thirteen year-old boy was hogtied, beaten and set on fire by three boys in Barangay BF Homes in Parañaque City early Monday.
The suspects were aged 12, 13 and 19. The youngest and eldest are out of school youths.
The trio accosted the victim on Dr. A. Santos Drive at around 1:45 a.m. Monday.
They tied up the victim and stuffed a sock in his mouth before covering him with dried leaves and cartons, and setting him on fire.
Barangay officials and a security guard found the victim crying and lying on the street.
He is being treated for third degree burns at the Philippine General Hospital.
Traumatized, the victim on Tuesday was still unable to speak and identify the motive behind the attack.
Police, meanwhile, suspect the assault is linked to local gang wars.
The two underage suspects have been turned over to the Bahay Pag-asa of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The 19-year-old suspect, Wilfren Buyoc, was detained at the Parañaque police station. -- Report from Henry Atuelan, DZMM
