MANILA -- A few days before the People Power anniversary, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office chairman Margie Juico on Saturday revealed that former President Corazon Aquino had left behind diaries and letters that can be published into a book.

According to Juico, she was a safekeeper of President Cory's memoirs, which included contents of her diaries and letters she exchanged with her husband, former Senator Benigno Aquino Sr., while he was in jail during Martial Law.

She safekept the memoirs during the coup d etat in 1989, Juico said.

"...magulo noon, nilusob ang Malacanang. Sabi ni Tita Cory, binigay niya sa akin, this is my treasure bag full of letters and diaries," Juico recalled.

She added: "Mababasa sa mga diary at sulat ni dating Pangulong Cory ang pagmamahal niya sa kapwa, sa bayan at sa Panginoon."

Juico said the memoirs can serve as an inspiration to the youth.

"... Love for others, strong faith and honesty, that is what we can learn from her. Here was a housewife who fought a dictator and sacrificed everythig for the greater good," Juico said.
