Mother, son ambushed inside taxi in QC
MANILA -- Two passengers of a tax were shot dead by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Quezon City on Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Mark Joseph Reyes and his mother, Jasmine Reyes.
According to a relative, who were with them prior to the incident, the two had just attended a hearing in Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 94 for their car theft and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition cases.
Both victims were allegedly members of the Mark Lester Reyes Carnapping-Carjacking Group. The group's leader, Mark Lester Reyes, is Jasmine's husband and Mark Joseph's father.
According to Jaime Bobi, driver of a Valentino Taxi, the three passengers, flagged down his taxi in front of the Quezon City Hall of Justice and asked to be brought to Monumento in Caloocan.
However, when they stopped along Kalayaan Avenue, one of the passengers got off the car and told her companions to just meet up in Monumento.
When they were driving along the inner lane of Quezon Memorial Circle in front of Visayas Avenue, the two motorcycle-riding suspects stopped in front of the cab and fired at his passengers..
Weng Dela Peña, another taxi driver who witnessed the incident, said both suspects fired at the victims using calibre .45 guns.
He also saw the suspects turn right along North Avenue, but he failed to list the motorcycle's plate number.
