MANILA -- Police authorities confiscated boxes containing suspected shabu-making chemicals at the Araneta Center Bus Terminal in Cubao Friday morning.

According to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Chief Supt. Richard Albano, they recovered 32 boxes containing liquid chemicals, powdered charcoal, an electric burner and other tools used in manufacturing shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).

Police discovered the shabu-making ingredients after one chemical bottle was broken inside the Isarog bus which was bound for Masbate.

Passengers of the bus reportedly smelled the chemicals, prompting them to alert authorities, who in turn immediately inspected the boxes.

Initial investigation showed that the boxes, which were dropped off by a pick-up truck at the terminal, were sent by a certain Johnny Lee and were supposed to be delivered to a certain Gerry in Masbate.

No suspect was arrested in the incident.

Authorities are still investigating the market value of the confiscated chemicals. -- Report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
