MANILA – More than 4,000 couples were simultaneously wed in various churches across the country on Valentine’s Day.
One of the sponsors of the mass wedding held in Makati, Pag-IBIG Fund, believes that the Philippines has a chance of breaking the Guinness record for the most number of couples married simultaneously.
More than 30 mass weddings were held.
In Makati alone, more than 300 couples got married.
A couple in Makati got married after being together for 40 years. They now have 2 children and 7 grandchildren.
The groom, Luis, is 74 years old while the bride, Tita Redaja is 58.
“Malalaki na ‘yung mga anak namin, may mga asawa na. ‘Yung mga apo naman, para malaman nila na kami’y kasal,” said Rejada.
Hundreds of couples also wed simultaneously in Manila and Quezon City.
Around 150 couples, meanwhile, tied the knot in Taguig.
A mass wedding was also held in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, where around 450 couples were married. -- Report from Zen Hernandez, ABS-CBN News
