MANILA – Two tricycle drivers were arrested after allegedly robbing a money lender in Mandaluyong City.

Suspects Ruel Geron and Eric Supillo, both armed with knives and on board a motorcycle, allegedly robbed a money lender along Nueve de Pebrero Street in Barangay Mauway.

Several bystanders, however, witnessed the incident and blocked the criminal's path.

"Nung nakita ang victim natin na hinoldap, hinarang ng mga bystanders ang motor. Sumemplang ang motor tapos naaresto yung mga suspek," said Inspector Herculano Mago, chief of Mandaluyong Police's criminal investigation unit.

The suspects were caught with the knives, a motorcycle without registration plate, and a fake driver's license.

Investigators said they will check whether the two suspects were also behind the series of robberies involving tricycle drivers in the city. – report from Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News
