1 dead, 15 hurt as truck flips over along CAVITEX
MANILA – A man died and at least 10 others were injured after a pick-up truck flipped over along Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Las Piñas Wednesday evening.
Engineer Francisco Jiorgo Jr., an employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways, said about 20 passengers of a bus which got involved in an accident boarded his vehicle as he passed by CAVITEX's southbound lane at around 8 p.m.
Jiorgio said he did not offer the passengers a ride but the latter blocked his truck and boarded it out of desperation to reach their respective destinations.
Not able to carry the heavy weight of the passengers anymore, the pick-up truck flipped over, killing one person believed to be in his 50s.
At least 15 others were wounded, including Jiorgo and fellow DPWH employee Randie Reyes.
Nine of the injured victims were rushed to St. Dominique Hospital, while five others who were in much worse conditions were brought to Las Piñas General Hospital. – report from Zandro Ochona, dzMM
