MANILA (UPDATED) – The presiding priest at the funeral Mass for 14-year-old Rio Bianca "Cacai" Ramirez, who was killed during a field trip in Rizal, angrily called for justice for the high school student, and hit the media for allegedly “sensationalizing” the incident.

At the start of his homily on Wednesday, Fr. Robert Lunod took notice of the TV cameras inside the church.

"Bakit may media?" he said, raising his voice.

"Para gawing sensational? At pagkatapos gawing sensational ay walang makakamit na katarungan ang kanyang kamatayan," the priest added.

Dunud also criticized the media for news reports that Ramirez's death was an accident.

"Kahit ito'y iniisip ng iba at pinalalabas sa media na isang aksidente, kailangan namin ng katarungan," the priest said.

"Bakit niyo kami kinununan ng camera? Ang kailangan namin ay katarungan, hindi popularidad," he added.

Dunud said those whose negligence caused Ramirez's death must be held liable.

"Magdusa ang dapat magdusa! Magbayad ang dapat magbayad! Ibigay ang katarungan upang maging makabuluhan ang kanyang kamatayan,” he said.

Ramirez, who hails from Bulacan, was killed by a parked Advocate Transport bus that rolled downhill on February 8.

Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has placed under preventive suspension 4 of the 11 units of Advocate Transport.

According to LTFRB Chairman James Jacob, the suspension order was issued on Tuesday and will last for not more than 30 days.

The bus units will also be subjected to regular inspection by the LTFRB during this period, while its drivers will undergo training and seminar. -- With a report from Zen Hernandez, ABS-CBN News
