MANILA (UPDATE) – Anti-illegal drug police on Wednesday discovered at least P300 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in Parañaque City.

Elements of the Philippine National Police – Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (PNP - AIDSOTF) found at least 70 kilograms of shabu inside a unit in Sentosia Condominium along Macapagal Boulevard in Barangay Tambo.

PNP-AIDSOTF legal officer Roque Merdegia said the illegal drugs were found inside two pieces of luggage and a sack. Some of them were already repacked for selling.

Another sack contained ephedrine which is also being used in manufacturing shabu.

No one was arrested during the operation, but Sentosia guards said a group of "Chinese-looking" men were seen attempting to retrieve the contraband inside the unit Tuesday night after it was monitored by the condominium administration.

The Sentosia Condominium administration said the group started renting the unit in May 2013.

AIDSOTF said today's operation was a follow-up to the January 24 arrest of four people caught with 248 kilograms of ephedrine, initially declared as shabu, along Pacific Avenue in Barangay Dongalo.

At least eight people were tagged in the illegal drugs operation. They were identified as Marvin Tan alias Tiu; Frederick Tan; Johnson Co alias Johnson Chua; Jacky Sia Huang alias Tsoi; Richard Catungal alias Richard; Fernando Alegre Dilima alias Fernando; James Garcia alias Ming-Ming; and a certain Emmy– report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
