MANILA, Philippines - A suspected thief in Quiapo, Manila, was easily identified and arrested through the help of closed-circuit television footage, authorities said Friday.

The suspect, identified as Marlon Tolentino, was seen entering a tent store and after a few minutes, and was again seen going out of the tent.

In another CCTV camera, he was seen counting the money he allegedly stole.

It was only after waking up in the morning when Sheila Maiwat discovered that around P40,000 she earned was missing.

After viewing the CCTV footage of the barangay, Maiwat found out that the suspect was her own cousin.

Meanwhile, another snatcher and a minor stealing a bicycle were also caught stealing on camera.

Brgy 306 in Quiapo has 16 CCTV cameras installed in different strategic streets.

Almost 300 cases have been resolved and more than 100 suspects have been sent to jail through CCTVs' help.

The barangay is planning to install 8 more CCTV cameras.
