MANILA -- Police have fined guards of Megaforce Security Agency for not reporting the incident involving the mauling of actor Vhong Navarro last January 22.
Megaforce is in charge of securing Forbeswood Heights Condominium, where Navarro was allegedly beaten up by several men led by businessman Cedric Lee.
Model Deniece Cornejo is also accusing Navarro of raping her inside the condo.
The Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies of the Philippine National Police (PNPSOSIA) ordered 2 security guards on duty to pay P5,000 in fines for not reporting the incident to police.
Wilfredo Molles, operation manager of Megaforce, said they were earlier ordered by the property management of Forbeswood not to release any information regarding the incident.
Domingo Lero, one of the security guards, said he did not notice that Navarro was injured because members of Lee's group were hiding him from view.
He confirmed, however, that he saw both Navarro and Lee visit the condominium twice.
Police Chief Inspector Sancho Celedio of PNP-SOSIA said it was the first time that Megaforce violated protocol and it is unlikely that the agency will lose its license. -- report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
