MANILA -- A man who held up a bus died after a passenger shot him in Brgy. Pag-Asa, Quezon City.
According to the bus driver, Romy Corido, the two suspects got onboard when they were near Cubao.
The men suddenly asked him to stop the vehicle when they were under a footbridge in Sitio San Roque. They took out their fan knives (balisongs), declared a hold up and started taking things from the passengers.
PO1 Christian Santos of Malabon City Police Station was in the bus with his family, however, and decided to make his move after one of the suspects attempted to stab one of the passengers.
As the suspects exited the bus, one of them fell on the pavement. He died after sustaining a bullet wound on his stomach. He was later identified as Liberato Magno, 21.
Magno's companion was able to flee with some of the passengers' possessions, although the police were able to recover a mobile phone.
The police are continuously looking for the other suspect. Santos will be subjected to an investigation after shooting Magno. -- with reports from Eric Dastas, dzMM and Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News.
