Sari-sari store owner shot dead in QC

MANILA, Philippines – A 49-year-old woman was shot dead inside her home along Mother Ignacia St., Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City on Friday.

Police identified the victim as Elena Sabariaga Baladad, an owner of a convenience store.

Quezon City Police District Station 10 chief Sr. Supt. Marcelino Pedroso said the victim was shot in the head.

The victim’s nephew, Francis John Sabariaga, told police that he found her aunt with a pillow over her head inside her bedroom at around 2:30 p.m.

He immediately alerted barangay officials who notified police.

Pedroso said a .38 caliber revolver was recovered in another room.

They have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.

Pedroso added that the home is equipped with a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera, but the suspects stole the digital recorder.
