MANILA - A katana-wielding man was shot by policemen after resisting arrest in Quezon City Friday night.
The suspect, identified only as "Daok," allegedly detained Mary Jane Ladero, 25 and her child at his own house.
Ladero sent a text message to her husband Romnic, asking for help. Daok fled from his house before Romnic arrived.
The Laderos filed a complaint with the Quezon City Police District. Authorities found Daok back at his residence.
The suspect resisted arrest and threw hollow blocks at the policemen. He also attempted to hack the authorities with a katana twice.
Police shot Daok on the left shoulder.
He was brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.
Daok will face charges of serious illegal detention, threat, physical injury, direct assault and violation of the Omnibus Election Code. -- Report from Fred Cipres, radio dzMM
