MANILA -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said crime suspects should not be mauled or subjected to beatings.
The PNP said no one has the right to hurt or beat up suspects.
According to Police Deputy Director General Felipe Roxas, deputy chief for PNP administration, police and civilians found guilty of hurting or maltreating suspects can be arrested and charged.
Roxas said if actor Vhong Navarro told the police that he was mauled by the same people who took him to the police station, then those attacked him should have been arrested and investigated by authorities.
Roxas, however, has refused to make further statements on the case. - Report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
