The District Investigation and Detective Management Division of the Southern Police District (SPD) on Monday released a picture of actor Vhong Navarro reading the police blotter

MANILA -- The District Investigation and Detective Management Division of the Southern Police District (SPD) on Monday released a picture of actor Vhong Navarro reading the police blotter filed against him on January 22.

The picture shows Navarro wearing a black baseball cap and a black shirt, his face beaten and swollen.

Also shown in the picture is the police officer who wrote the blotter, PO3 Dalmacio Lumiwan Jr.

However, the picture does not show the group who allegedly mauled the actor.

Lumiwan, PO3 Rolly Laureto and two other police officers who were on duty on January 23 said they treated the actor well, asking him if he wanted to go to a hospital for a medical exam.

They added that Navarro declined the offer and even told them not to release any pictures to reporters.

The police officers said the actor and alleged victim agreed not to file charges against each other. This is also the reason they did not bring the victim to their women's desk.

Laureto also said he was the one who removed the duct tape binding Navarro's hands and gave him a glass of water to wash his face.

The police officers added that Navarro was accompanied by a certain Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, another man identified as Cornejo's cousin, and another woman identified as Lee's sister.

They said they also escorted Navarro back to Bonifacio Global City in their police car.

Meanwhile, SPD District Director PC Supt. Erwin Villacorte said they will investigate whether there were lapses in how the police handled the case, particularly why they did not insist on bringing Navarro to the hospital. -- report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
