MANILA - A barangay chairman lost an estimated P1.5 million in cash and valuables in a robbery inside his own home in Sampaloc, Manila, a report said Friday.
Initial reports said Barangay Chairman Carlos Zamora had just opened the gate of his home at 624 Lacson Avenue, Sampaloc, Manila when several gun-wielding suspects barged inside and proceeded to bind and gag him and his family.
The suspects destroyed their CCTV cameras and also carted away an estimated P1.5 million in cash and valuables from Zamora's vault.
Zamora said he tried to fight his attackers but was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects.
The Manila Police District theft and robbery section is now investigating the incident. Noel Alamar, Radio DZMM
