MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – A man died after jumping off a building in Mandaluyong City on Monday morning.

Luke Daryl Santos, 19, allegedly jumped off the 9th floor of Globe Asiatique (GA) Tower 1, located beside Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

His bestfriend, identified as Bryan De Mesa, said they had just come home from a drinking session when the incident occurred.

De Mesa said he first saw Luke holding on to the railings of the fire exit and was about to jump off the building. He said Luke had told him he would enter their locked condominium unit through the window.

De Mesa and Luke's mother, Marissa, were able to prevent this victim's initial suicide attempt.

However, Luke, a 3rd year college student of the Philippine Maritime Institute, allegedly went on to jump off the building while no one was watching over him.

Luke fell on the side of the building facing Cordillera Street. He landed on the canopy of the building's lobby.

He ended his life allegedly over family problems. – report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
