Bystander hurt in Caloocan shootout

MANILA – Two people were wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay 21, Caloocan City early Monday.

Barangay 21 chairman Jonjon Mapue said two men shot at each other along Don Jose Street, near C-3 Road, shortly before 5 a.m.

One of the men was shot in the abdomen and was brought to the hospital. The other suspect, identified as Mark Joseph Arcilla, was arrested by barangay officials while he was in hiding.

A female passing by the area was also shot in the abdomen and was rushed to Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities recovered a .45-caliber pistol and a grenade from the suspects.

Investigators said a feud involving illegal drugs triggered the shooting incident. – report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
