MANILA - Three people were arrested in a drug raid at a condominium unit in Makati City.
The suspects were identified as Fortune Sarmiento alias Fort, Edmund Macapinlac and Gio Ledesma.
Speaking to radio dzMM, Atty. Jacquelyn de Guzman of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said authorities seized so-called "fly-high" or "party" drugs from the suspects.
She said the shabu-laced ecstasy capsules are in demand among party-goers in high-end clubs.
She said they are still investigating whether the new drugs were smuggled from other countries or manufactured here in the Philippines.
Just this week, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) discovered drug laboratories in several condominiums in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and Makati City in simultaneous raids.
The suspects arrested there were reportedly connected with the group "Independent Soldiers," allegedly composed of Canadian, Mexican and Iranian nationals operating in Greece, United States, Australia and parts of Asia. -- Report from Eric Dastas, dzMM
