MANILA – Two men were killed in separate shooting incidents in Quezon City on Thursday evening.
In Barangay Commonwealth, Marcelo Luzong was shot dead in the head along IBP Road while he was about to go home.
Relatives and co-workers of Luzong believe the murder is connected to the victim's work as a barangay official tasked to eliminate illegal drug and gambling activities.
No one saw Luzong's assailant. Police investigators also failed to recover any spent bullets from the crime scene.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Aldwin Albarico was shot dead along Lakatan Street in Barangay Batasan Hills.
Wtinesses said Albarico figured in an altercation prior to the shooting incident. An investigation has been launched to determine the gunman.
The shootings occurred as the attention of the Philippine National Police (PNP) was called in the wake of a string of robbery incidents and other crimes involving motorcycle-riding men in the city.
Quezon City Police vowed to eliminate crimes by setting up "Oplan Sita."
