San Juan suspends classes on Jan. 20 for 'Palaro'

MANILA -- Classes in San Juan City will be suspended on Monday, January 20, for the opening of the National Capital Region (NCR) Palarong Panrehiyon.

In a memorandum dated January 13, San Juan Schools Division Superintendent Rowena Cacanindin said classes will be suspended in all public and private elementary and high schools.

"In line with the opening ceremonies of the NCR Palarong Panrehiyon 2014, all are directed to suspend classes on January 20, 2014. Consequently, the participation of all concerned is highly expected," Cacanindin said.

She also advised public schools to make the necessary arrangements in the participation of their students in the flag-waving activity during the parade of athletes.

The sporting event will end on January 25, Saturday.

Competing in the annual multi-sports meet are teams from San Juan, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Maynila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, Quezon, Pateros, Taguig and Valenzuela.

The winners in the regional tournament will be competing in the Palarong Pambansa, which will be held in Laguna in May.
