MANILA, Philippines – Firefighters took 5 hours to control the fire that broke out in a residential area in Barangay San Andres in Cainta, Rizal past 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The fire spread to around 200 homes along the Westbank road floodway.
The blaze reached Task Force Alpha at around 5 p.m.
Rizal fire marshall Chief Insp. Bernard Rosete said firefighters found it difficult to put out the fire because they cannot pass through the narrow streets.
Strong winds are also causing the fire to spread quickly to the houses which were mostly made of light materials.
Authorities have yet to confirm if there were casualties in the incident.
The cause of the blaze and the total cost of damage are also undetermined, as of posting.
Meanwhile, over a hundred residents have already left their homes while still trying to salvage what was left of their belongings. -- Report from Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM; Chiara Zambrano, ABS-CBN News
