MANILA, Philippines - Hundreds of protesters from Kabataan party-list and Bagong Alyansang Makabayan trooped to the Supreme Court today to hold a protest ahead of oral arguments against Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Some of the demonstrators have been staying along Padre Faura Street in Manila since last night. They were joined by their colleagues early this morning.

Bayan and its affiliated groups have long been voicing their concern over the anti-cybercrime law, which they believe curtails the rights of free speech and expression of netizens. They also raised opposition to the supposed vague provisions of RA 10175, which makes it possible to charge a wide range of activities on the internet.

Kabataan said they also oppose the broad powers of the executive to monitor and shut down websites, which they deem to be engaged in illegal activities.

Demonstrators said they will continue their protest till this afternoon.
