De Lima sacks NBI-NCR chief
MANILA, Philippines - Justice Secretary Leila De Lima has ordered the relief of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) - National Capital Region (NCR) Dir. Manuel George Jularbal and several of his men who were part of last Friday's birthday party at the bureau's headquarters in Manila that led to the shooting of an NBI agent by another agent.
De Lima said Jularbal was relieved due to command responsibility.
Agent Nestor Pascual of NBI-NCR fired a .40-caliber pistol at special investigator Joselito Guillen of the bureau's intelligence division.
Pascual was allegedly under the influence of alcohol which was being served at the party and was "playing" with his service firearm leading Guillen to "borrow" the gun and remove the magazine before anybody got hurt.
Pascual, however, reloaded the firearm and fired at Guillen.
