MANILA, Philippines – Residents of Barangay North Triangle in Quezon City have set up barricades along Agham Road Friday in preparation for a possible demolition of their houses.

Maricar dela Cruz, spokesperson of Alyansa Kontra Demolisyon, said the eviction notice issued last January 5 by the National Housing Authority (NHA) to some 7,000 families in Sitio San Roque expires today.

Dela Cruz said the residents will conduct a demolition drill before the expected arrival of the demolition team between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.

A tension-filled demolition operation took place in the area on September 23, 2010, leaving at least 10 individuals injured.

The QC government wants to turn the contested area into the city's central business district. – with a report from Raffy Santos, ABS-CBN News
