Wanted Abu Sayyaf member nabbed in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines - A suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group tagged in 3 kidnapping cases was arrested Friday morning in Taguig City, initial police reports said.

A joint team from the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Metro Manila and military intelligence personnel captured Suhod Salasim in Tawi-Tawi St., Maharlika Village, Taguig City.

He has arrest warrants for 12 criminal cases including kidnapping of workers of Golden Harvest Plantation at Barangay Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan and the abduction of nurses at the Dr. Torres Hospital in Lamitan, Basilan.

Salasim also has an arrest warrant for the kidnapping of teachers and students of the Claret High School at Barangay Tumahubong, Sumisip, Basilan, according to Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr.

Authorities seized hand and rifle grenades from the suspect during the operation. - report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News
