MANILA – A suspect in the shooting of the grandson of master impersonator Willie Nepomuceno is now under police custody.

The suspect, 30-year-old Mark Bersilla, was arrested on Thursday after being tagged in the shooting of Nepomuceno's grandson, Sean Gabriel Nepomuceno, and his friends in Marikina City before dawn yesterday.

Sean Gabriel Nepomuceno and his three friends had just gone out of a computer shop and were supposed to buy food from a burger stand in Marikina City when they were shot by four men on board a white car at around 2:50 a.m. Thursday.

Bersilla, who is set to undergo inquest proceedings today for the frustrated murder and grave threat charges, denied the allegations.

"Nagtataka ako kung bakit ako ang tinuturo sa krimen na iyon," he said.

Marikina Police have yet to disclose how they were able to arrest Bersilla, who was positively identified by the other victims as one of the shooters. Three other suspects remain at large.

Willie Wilson Jr., father of Sean Gabriel, said his son is now in stable condition at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center despite sustaining three gunshot wounds.

"Sa ngayon naman stable na siya, ang masama lang kasi yung tama niya ay sa balakang. Fragmented ang buto tapos yung bituka niya nagkaroon ng apat na butas tapos may tama sa liver bago lumabas ang bala. Iyung isa naman sa may braso, nakakuha ng bala, at isang tagusan sa hita," Wilson told dzMM.

One of Sean Gabriel's friends, identified as Frank Raven Jocson, was shot in the leg.

Police said Sean Gabriel's shooting may be a case of mistaken identity, as a group of teenagers figured in an altercation with another group in the same place prior to the shooting incident. – reports from Chiara Zambrano, ABS-CBN News; and Johnson Manabat, dzMM
