MANILA -- A suspicious box, first believed to contain a bomb, was found in Carriedo, Manila on Wednesday afternoon.

Vendors immediately called the police to check the box, which was wrapped in packaging tape.

Operatives from the Manila Police Department (MPD) Explosives Division rushed to the scene to defuse what was suspected to be a bomb inside the box.

However, they were surprised to find a dead man's body, wrapped in blue plastic bag, crammed inside the box.

Scene Of The Crime (SOCO) operatives have yet to know the identity of the man, who was wearing a red shirt. His hands and feet were tied with a rope.

The man's face was also wrapped in tape, and his mouth gagged. -- with a report from Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM
