MANILA – The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday announced that there will only be half-day work for the high court, Court of Appeals, and trial courts in Manila on January 9, Thursday, in anticipation of the procession of the image of the Black Nazarene.
The SC Public Information Office, in its official Twitter account, said SC Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno ordered that office hours will be until 12 noon of January 9.
"This is in anticipation of heavy traffic due to the Black Nazarene procession in the City of Manila but also balancing the needs of litigants and lawyers who may need to file pleadings and meet deadlines for that day," the SC said.
The procession of the image towards the minor basilica in Quiapo will begin right after the mass presided by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle at 6 a.m.. Some 12 million devotees are expected to join the procession.
