Suspected criminal found dead in QC market

MANILA – A man being linked to criminal activities was found dead in the vicinity of Commonwealth Market in Quezon City on Sunday evening.

The victim, only identified as Janjan, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and two in his chest.

Allan Abiera, a market security guard, said Janjan was a thief and drug pusher in the area based on the accounts of people who knew the victim.

He said he initially ignored the gunshots, thinking that they were just firecrackers.

Janjan was also allegedly a member of the notorious Sigue Sigue Sputnik Gang.

Meanwhile, another man was wounded in a shooting incident along Samonte Extension in Barangay Old Balara.

The victim, identified as Bata Valdez, sustained four gunshot wounds to his body. He was brought to to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.

Witnesses said the suspect, who was on board a motorcycle, even greeted Valdez before firing shots.

Investigators are looking into a recent dispute involving Valdez as a possible reason behind the shooting. – report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
