MANILA, Philippines – Two people were injured after seven unidentified armed men shot them at the corner of IBP Road and Omega Street in Barangay Commonwealth in Quezon City on Sunday.

The police identified that victims as Arnel Laze, 29, and Ildefonso Ignacio, 36, who were both residents of the area.

Police Officer 3 Benjie Butac said the incident happened around 3 a.m. while Laze and Ignacio were having a drinking session.

Reports said the suspects immediately left the crime scene after firing their guns.

Laze sustained a gunshot wound in his knee while Ignacio sustained two wounds in his back and arm.

Police said gang war may be the motive behind the incident.

According to Laze and Ignacio, they saw the suspects carrying .45 caliber guns but they were not sure how many arms exactly did they have.

Authorities already swept the crime scene clean but they were not able to recover a single slug in the area.

Meanwhile, residents in Barangay Commonwealth were afraid to speak about the shooting, making it harder for police to solve the crime. – from a report by Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
