Brain-dead firecracker victim dies
MANILA -- The 12-year old boy who was declared brain dead after a firecracker blast died Friday night.
John Kenneth Deñega was declared brain-dead after he and another boy, Mark Jason Gotos, collected the powder from firecrakers that did not explode during the New Year festivities.
The boys wanted to play with the firecrackers' powder when it suddenly exploded. The incident happened last Thursday.
Deñega's remains were brought to their house, located under the NLEX flyover in Quirino Highway, Quezon City after he died in East Avenue Medical Center.
Because of what happened to her son, the victim's mother, Anesita Deñega is supporting the proposal to ban all firecrackers.
Meanwhile, Gotos is still recuperating after losing both of his hands and his left eye. -- with a report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
