MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Army honored on Thursday heroes from typhoon Pablo.
Twenty-one members of the Charlie company of the 66th Infantry Battalion each received a medal for acts of heroism during the onslaught of Pablo in Compostela Valley, the most devastated province.
Army chief Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Bautista personally gave the bronze cross medals to four soldiers currently at the AFP Medical Center in Quezon City.
1st Lt. Alex Marvin Deazeta, the company commander; 2nd Lt. Jose Enrico Nuas;
Private First Class Albert Puyunan; and,
Private Ryan Magno.
They are members of the disaster response team in Andap Village, Compostela Valley.
Seven Army soldiers died from various disaster response activities. Four others remain missing and 21 others were injured.
Families of the soldiers who died or are missing were given P500,000 financial assistance. A P150,000 financial assistance was also given to the injured soldiers.
