MANILA, Philippines - The Metro Manila Development Authority on Tuesday said it is targeting 1 million followers in its Twitter account by 2013.
MMDA traffic discipline office director Yves Gonzalez said the MMDA's official Twitter account currently has more than 420,000 followers.
He said the agency has made great strides and provided crucial information especially during the habagat floods last August.
"That was exactly the kind of event that we were made for. We were able to collect information from the public and immediately disseminate it and avoid people getting stuck in floods and avoid unnecessary traffic," he said.
He said the MMDA's traffic navigator app also eliminated a lot of the questions about traffic in Metro Manila.
