MANILA, Philippines - Justice Secretary Leila De Lima on Friday said they are considering several improvements to the psychological test taken by candidates for Supreme Court justice.
De Lima admitted that she found the exam difficult when she took them during the selection for new chief justice.
"Yung mga psych exams, kailangan siguraduhin ng JBC na ang magsasagawa competent and objective. Iniisip nating lilinisin yung mode, standard, process, and possibly people handling psych exams," she said.
Former Chief Justice Reynato Puno earlier said he is against a proposal to scrap psychiatric tests as a requirement for aspiring justices.
Puno said the tests help the Judicial and Bar Council determine the mental and psychological capacity of candidates.
“I will vote for the retention of this test. This is quite important because by this test – though it may not be conclusive – you get a window of the psychological capacity of the one who wants to join the judiciary,” he said in an ANC interview.
