MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday signed the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Act, which renews for another 15 years the modernization of the AFP to the tune of a total of P75 billion for the first 5 years.

The law aims to ensure that military hardware, equipment and weapons of the Armed Forces of the Philippines are continuously upgraded.

No detailed breakdown, however, was given to the media as to how will the budget be spent.

The Department of Budget and Management and the Department of National Defense will discuss in the coming days how much will go to each particular logistical requirement of the different units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
