MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III will declare a state of national calamity as recommended by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Communications Secretary Ricky Carandang said Friday.
Aquino on Friday visited Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental, the areas worst-hit by typhoon “Pablo”.
According to the NDRRMC, the typhoon has left 456 people dead, 445 injured and 533 still missing.
At least 26 municipalities and four provinces have declared a state of calamity.
The President also declared a state of national calamity last year to speed up the release of calamity funds for victims of Tropical Storm Sendong.
