MANILA, Philippines - The Pasay regional trial court will not act on Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay's proposal that the public shut up about the case of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Clerk of court Joel Pelicano said RTC branch 112 Judge Jesus Mupas will only issue a resolution based on the motions presented by the two sides in the Arroyo case. He added neither side is asking the judge for a gag order.

He said any proposal to the court must come from Arroyo's defense lawyers.

Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay earlier called on the public to have a self-imposed "gag order" on the case of former President Arroyo, specifically on the matter of where to detain her. She said any statement on the Arroyo case may unduly influence the judge.

"I don't want to say where the former President should be detained because for me, it's up to the courts to decide. ... and for everybody to stop giving their two cents' worth as to where or what should happen to the former President because it's already filed in court," she said.
