MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III arrived in the country Tuesday night from the 3-day ASEAN Summit held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The President arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 with the Philippine delegation, including Department of Trade and Industry Sec. Gregory Domingo and TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva.

Vice President Jejomar Binay and Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas were among those who welcomed the President at the airport.

In his arrival speech, the President reiterated that the territorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea is a global issue that does not only involve ASEAN countries, but the United States as well.

President Aquino, who was ill prior to his trip to Cambodia, said attending the summit was worth it.

He believes that discussions on the territorial rifts with China made significant progress with talks on a code of conduct for disputed areas.

However, no time frame has been set for the crafting of the code of conduct. -- Reports from Apples Jalandoni and Ryan Chua, ABS-CBN News
