MANILA, Philippines - Filipinos should not wait until the last minute to register in the elections, a Palace official said Monday.
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the Filipino trait of waiting until the last moment to attend to important matters has to be changed.
The Palace has no position yet on a move reportedly made by Rep. Rufus Rodriguez asking the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to extend the registration of voters.
"We Filipinos have a tendency to always come in at the last minute. It's a trait that we need to remove. It's not something that is commendable for us Filipinos," Lacierda said.
"We need to be on time. We need to do things properly. We don't have to wait for the last minute to do an action," he said.
