MANILA, Philippines - Whistleblower Jun Lozada was a no show at today’s hearing at the Sandiganbayan in connection with the mothballed National Broadband Network deal.
Prosecutors said Lozada has colds and fever, making him physically unavailable to testify on the second day of trial.
After one year and two months, the Sandiganbayan started on Wednesday the proceedings on the graft case against former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
The prosecution started its presentation of evidence with Bayan Muna Rep. Teodoro Casiño as one of its initial witnesses. Casiño is one of the complainants who filed the case before the Ombudsman last September 2011.
Lozada is supposed to be the prosecution’s second witness. With his absence, the Sandiganbayan’s 4th division reset the hearing to January 30 and 31 next year.
