MANILA – Forty-five national bets were summoned by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Wednesday as the poll body continued to screen potential nuisance candidates for the 2016 elections.
Over 266 bets have been slapped with petitions to declare as nuisance candidates by the Comelec's Law Department.
The list included self-proclaimed Ang Kapatiran party standard-bearer and presidential aspirant Rizalito David, who also filed election offense case against front runner Grace Poe for allegedly committing material misrepresentation in her certificate of candidacy for senator.

The Comelec confirmed that David is now deemed as an independent candidate following Ang Kapatiran's letter to the poll body clarifying that it is not fielding any candidate for the 2016 elections.
David immediately belied the information coming from Norman Cabrera, saying the latter already left the party and he continues to enjoy the support of his party-mates.
Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista told reporters that after the preliminary conference, the petitions would be submitted for resolution and it would be up to the first and second divisions to decide whether to ask for further appearances from the respondents.
Otherwise the judgments will be based on the affidavits and pieces of evidence submitted by the candidates.
The poll body is set to come out with the final list of candidates by December 10.
