MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang on Tuesday said the dispute between a lawyer and members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) over parking was a "simple misunderstanding."

Lawyer Howard Calleja earlier posted on Facebook the details on how PSG members allegedly threatened to arrest him and his driver and sue them for alarm and scandal for ignoring a security cordon outside a Korean restaurant along Jupiter Street in Makati over the weekend.

It was learned the PSG had tried to secure the parking area for the arrival of President Benigno Aquino III at the restaurant.

"Pinaimbestigahan din po kasi 'yung nangyari at ang lumalabas ho ay nagkaroon ng maliit na misunderstanding dahil doon po sa course nung insidente, ang kausap po ni Atty. Calleja (ay) 'yung parking attendant at hindi din po kasi sinabihan nung parking attendant si Atty. Calleja kung bakit po hindi puwedeng pumarada," said Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte.

Valte said an investigation on the incident was ordered by Malacañang.

"I am told that the PSG on scene already conveyed their apologies dahil hindi po malinaw kung bakit sini-secure 'yung area" said Valte.

Caleja said there was indeed an offer of apology after the incident.

But what irritated Calleja was the police report on the incident. "Baligtad yung report nila, I never said any invectives," he said.

He added that he was unaware that it was PSG officers who were confronting his driver, because the people outside the restaurant were in plain clothes and none of them identified themselves as authorities, except for 2 uniformed policemen.

Calleja said only a parking attendant talked to them at the start.

He said he is waiting for an official explanation from the PSG.
