MANILA - Government prosecutors have sought the cancellation of the passports of three of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s co-accused in the plunder raps in connection with the alleged misuse of P366 million in Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds.
In a motion filed before the Sandiganbayan, state prosecutors led by Prosecution Bureau Director Diosdado V. Calonge used as basis the report from the Bureau of Immigration that Rosario Uriarte, Jose Taruc V, and Ma. Fatima A.S. Valdes have flown out of the country.
All are former officials of the PCSO.
Based on travel records, the BI said Valdes left via Singapore Airlines flight SQ917 on June 12, 2011.
Uriarte followed on July 8, 2012 via Cebu Pacific flight 5J807. This was eight days before the filing of the plunder case.
Taruc then boarded Cathay Pacific Airlines flight CX900 on July 19.
The following day, Sandiganbayan issued a hold departure order against all the accused.
