MANILA, Philippines – Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo thanked her supporters, who lauded the Sandiganbayan for allowing the former president to be under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC).
Several thank you messages were posted on Arroyo’s Twitter account, in reply to supporters who, aside from saying they think the court’s decision was “fair”, also sent her their love and wished for her quick recovery.
Her staff emphasized in some of the messages posted on @gmarroyo that they were the ones answering on behalf of the Pampanga congresswoman.
Tweets on the account today, however, after the Sandiganbayan order came out, no longer said who was behind the posts. Her last post was five hours ago as of posting, around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Among the conditions for Arroyo’s hospital arrest is that she is prohibited from accessing the internet or using her mobile phone unless approved by the Police Security and Protection Group.
Aside from being prohibited to use cell phones and other technological devices, Arroyo is also disallowed from disseminating press releases and giving press interviews, unless the Sandiganbayan gives clearance.
Arroyo will remain at the VMMC “until further orders of the court.” - With a report from DZMM
