MANILA, Philippines - If Akbayan is delisted from the party-list elections, so too should Bayan Muna, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said.
Bayan Muna is seeking to delist Akbayan, claiming it does not represent the marginalized sector.
Akbayan is allied with the Aquino administration. Its former chief, Ronald Llamas, is currently the Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs.
"If that's the case, so should Bayan Muna because it's fielding… Teddy Casiño is running as a senatorial candidate. What is sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander. That's the reasoning that they're going to say. But, again, we leave everything up with the Commission on Elections,” he said.
He said the same thing on the fate of another Aquino ally, the Black and White Movement. Lacierda is a member of the group that is now seeking to run in 2013.
Lacierda said: "I have a personal preference on that, but again, I cannot comment on that. We leave everything up with the Comelec. I know what Black and White stands for, I believe in the principles that it stands for. But, with respect to whether it should be disqualified or not, there are rules that Comelec will apply and we will respect that. We will defer to the Comelec on the application of those rules."
