DepEd gets whopping P238.8-B budget for 2012

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino said the government is allotting P238.8 billion for the Department of Education in 2012, P17 billion of which would be spent to build and upgrade classrooms and facilities.

During the inauguration of a new building at the Eulogio Rodriguez Integrated School in Mandaluyong, the President also said that the administration's target is to build 66,000 classrooms before his term ends.

For next year, he said, the government plans to hire 13,000 new teachers.
