MANILA - The Department of Justice (DOJ) will coordinate with the Interpol to locate the whereabouts of Jose Taruc V, one of 9 accused, along with former Pressident and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, in a plunder case before the Sandiganbayan in connection with a multi-million peso fund mess involving the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

De Lima said the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has confirmed that Taruc, a former member of the PCSO Board of Directors, had left the country last July 19 via a Cathay Pacific flight, a week ahead of a hold departure order (HDO) issued by the anti-graft court against him and the other accused on July 25.

A warrant for the arrest of all of the accused was issued by the Sandiganbayan on Oct. 3, which is why De Lima said that once Taruc is located, the next thing the DOJ will do is to check if the country he is in has an extradition treaty or mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) with the Philippines so that he may be brought back here to face trial.
